hi everyone. I have been off the blog for a bit but finally am home long enough in the evening to get back. Came across a very interesting verse in Proverbs 22;28 "do not remove the ancient landmark which your father has set."
As soon as I read it the warning bells went off in my spirit that said, "okay, I know our churches and society are in trouble, but maybe I just stumbled across one of the reasons why." So I tucked it away in the back of my head until I had time to get it out and really look at it. This evening was it so I looked up a couple of other verses that refer to the ancient landmark Deut 19:14 "You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark which the men of old have set in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess." and then the real zinger, Deut 27:17 "Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor's landmark. And all the people said Amen."
The footnote for Prov 22:28 in the NKJV Nelson Study Bible says "The ancient Israelites regarded respect for the posted landmark as more than a question of private property. They saw it as a basic part of civil life. People must feel a certain sense of public trust and fairness for society to function."

So what do you think these ancient landmarks are that have been moved and who do you think moved them? I tend to blame everything on the Trudeau area. but i need help to think about this on a broader plain.
thanks for helping me think

Hi, Tene and Daniel;
I always read that verse to mean that when the Tribes of Israel were allotted their land, that they were not to change the boundaries. More locally, it also meant that for the everyday person, not to try and encroach upon his neighbour's land. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

I never looked at it in a modern context before, so I didn't really consider the impact of the Trudeau era as changing the "boundaries" of our Canadian Laws. Indeed, Trudeau's liberalization of our Christian laws to allow lower drinking ages, homosexuality and the like have had a negative impact on our society. Interesting take. Thanks for the post!

These verses you quote refer to taking the land away from Isreal..Dont stick your finger in Gods eye.
Know what God has given Isreal for land. Google the original land God gave Isreal..Iran and Iraq would not be impressed.
This has nothing to do with drinking or Trudeau..

And as for the drinking and Trudeau thing,,every province was different and still remains differnt

I beleive that the men went to war when they reached 20yrs old. I know that is when Israel went to war in 1967.

Moses must be having a bad time in heaven since he was over forty before he reached the age of accountability. His ministry started when he was eighty.
David was in his teens.

Man's law and God's law is not always the same.

Hi Laura, your Hellooooooooooooo did not appear very loving to me......that's OK I forgive you :))
So I guess for your sake I will quote scripture to back up my comments.

Numbers 1
16 These were the men appointed from the community, the leaders of their ancestral tribes. They were the heads of the clans of Israel.

17 Moses and Aaron took these men whose names had been given, 18 and they called the whole community together on the first day of the second month. The people indicated their ancestry by their clans and families, and the men twenty years old or more were listed by name, one by one, 19 as the LORD commanded Moses. And so he counted them in the Desert of Sinai
20 From the descendants of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel:
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families. 21 The number from the tribe of Reuben was 46,500

Good comments.
For sure, these scriptures speak of the clans of Israel, but the 10 Commmandments were given to them as well, but we live by them as grafted in christians. I am thinking more along the lines of the principles of the ancient landmark. My forefathers, as far back as I can go which is into the 1700's, all were Bible believing Born again christians, and strick about it. But I, although born again and a Bible believer, have not held that strickness and I have moved the ancient landmarks in many areas of my life and now I see they are moved even further away from God in the lives of my children and now even in my grandchildren. I think God's principles apply, no matter the time or people. I think He intends all His children to recognize His truth, and respond accordingly. If we disobey His commands,in how to stay close to Him, by not reading His Word, meditating on it and obeying it, and then passing that on to our children then we to move the ancient landmarks in their lives and choas results.
