Here is a question for all...Mark twain has been quoted(I think some else here referenced it):Sing like nobody is listening Dance like nobody is watching Love like you have never been hurt Live like heaven on earth Now, when faith in Christ and biblical principles are applied, how does this weigh out....applicable statements, or a road with pitfalls....or both?
What do you all think?.....sounds all good but....... In the circle of faith FrankV

I'm no smarter than anyone else on here, but Twain was saying--in my opinion--that heaven will be perfect. We can't be our sinful selves up there because we are sanctified, saved by Grace. However, that's not possible on earth. Why? Because, as we all know, we are born sinners and we're that way 'til we go home, despite being saved. It's our nature to sin down here. Up there it will not be our nature. We'll have a new one. That ole scutter Twain just wanted to make us think. (My brain's fried!) Another dummy, Bill

Well Rick and Bill, I guess I am the dummy for not being clear or establishing the question, sorry.... What was meant was the statements that were quoted by Twain...were really in reference to living life in our world, about our world , and yet regarding our pleasures and disregarding whats all around us (especially people) and walking in ourselves. Which is really not biblical...yet they are nice words and may (in this reference) not be in the context meant. You know, what the beliefs in the world are ,usually are not what Christianity is all about. But, the statements may actually mean things in that vain....Esoteric but .....well the point was that some of the words made by man ,while sounding eye opening and deep actually not be in tune or step with christian beliefs or the way. Look at the discussions with Dr.L about good and where it comes from..(posts by Joanne etc,,,)...his reference only comes from the world..(since he does not believe or even consider any of Christian mumbo-jumbo. Anyway just wanted to have a different sort of discussion and look at all the different points of view and its biblical applications..... In the circle of faith FrankV

Frank, I always took it as a world thing. Like advertising, it's feed the self/flesh.

Twain was more complicated than most people thought. He was a deep thinker, too. Twain said some profound things about God and Jesus, but I don't know where he stood with Him. I guess I'll have to wait for heaven to find out. I always took Twain's little poetic works to mean "live like Jesus asked us to." He is basically saying in his writing to keep a postive mind and attitude toward whatever we do, no matter what we do. I have found writing to be just such and endeavor. Most people can put a sentence and paragraph together, but not always in an intertaining, informative and creative manner. I have been a published writer for over 40 years and have read much better writers than I. I have also read material that, as an editor, I cannot entertain being published. Once a writer becomes set in his or her style, they do not change. [That's why a teacher can pick out cheaters: even a novice has his or her way of penning a subject matter.] That's getting way around Mark Twain's writing, but I simply wished to illustrate that he may have been reflecting on the Bible in his own profund way. Hi Frank & All, Actually you have been on my mind lately Frank, concerning your struggles with philosophys/thinking of man, as I know you are witnessing for Christ. I can't say for sure, but I like to think that the Holy Spirit is moving me to encourage you to study within scripture this subject: Elemental spirits Col 2:8 See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ. Col. 1: He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, Col. 2:20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the universe, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Frank, I read these scriptures lately and you came to mind as I know you try very hard to reason with all kinds of people as you are a harvester. I would love to study what Paul describes as the "elemental spirits". It reads as if we all are controlled by these elemental spirits before we repent, accept Christ and then are indwelled by the Holy Spirit. Understanding what the elemental spirits are and how they control men may help you/us all, in our witness. My humble thoughts. May the Holy Spirit guide us all in Truth, Mary
