Nebuchadnezzar, Did You Consider?

Daniel 4:30 relates - "The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?"

Notice the words that Nebuchadnezzar used here in this bold declaration - "great Babylon"..."I have built"..."by the might of my power"..."for the honor of my majesty."

Heaven's response to this arrogant statement is found in Daniel 4:31-32 which says - "While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar; to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men; and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou knowest that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will."

But, wait a minute! Wasn't Nebuchadnezzar simply confessing good things about himself? Wasn't he decreeing a positive thing about himself - while avoiding the negative?

Nowadays, we have people who are decreeing things like Nebuchadnezzar - acting as though they are "little gods" - not realizing that they are totally disregarding the Almighty in doing so. They are lifting themselves up in pride - arrogantly attributing honors to themselves which belong strictly to God.

Whoa, Christian! Watch out for this! Beware of Preachers who tell you that you can decree a thing when God never decreed it in the first place. You are not God...you never will be God...and it is imperative that you never ever attribute to yourself what only belongs to Him!

Look what happened to Nebuchadnezzar as a result of his boastful confession! He lost the kingdom! And not only that - he was reduced to the level of a cow! For seven years, he literally ate "grass as an oxen."

Your favorite Preacher failed to tell you that if your confession doesn't line up with the Bible or what God is saying about your life, you just might end up in the field eating grass with the cows. I wonder just how many Christians are out in the fields right now - "eating grass" ? In other words, they didn't get a promotion; they got a demotion - and all because they listened to some silly Preacher who taught them to be arrogant and "play God" with their words!

What Nebuchadnezzar and the positive confessors failed to realize is that "glory" and "honor" belong to God. Riches and honor come from Him - not from their positive confession. They didn't call things into being - God gave them those things which they are enjoying today.

Don't get us wrong. God can lead you to confess and decree a thing for your life, but it must be at His leading. And, when it comes to pass, He gets all the glory for it - not your ability to decree a thing and have it come to pass.

Nebuchadnezzar stated - "...Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?" He really wasn't asking a question here. He was making a brazen statement. He was simply saying - Look what I built! Look at how great I am!

In this message, we would like to address all of the Nebuchadnezzar's in the world who are feeling really good about themselves right now. In your arrogancy, you are feeling as though you have accomplished alot with the work of your own hands or the words of your mouth. We have one question for you - Did you consider?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what 1 Chronicles 29:11 says about the Almighty - "Thine, O LORD is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine; Thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and Thou art exalted as head above all" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what Daniel 4:34-35 says about the Almighty - "that liveth for ever, Whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation"..."all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing"..."He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth"..."none can stay His hand, or say unto Him, What doest Thou" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what Matthew 6:13 says about the Almighty - "Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what 1 Timothy 1:17 says about the Almighty - "Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what 1 Timothy 6:15-16 says about the Almighty - "Who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; Whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to Whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what Revelation 4:11 says about the Almighty - "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what Revelation 5:12 says about the Almighty - "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing" ?

Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what Revelation 7:12 says about the Almighty - "Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen" ?

And, finally, Nebuchadnezzar, did you consider what Revelation 19:1 says about the Almighty - "Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God" ?

If you haven't considered these things, O Nebuchadnezzar, we strongly urge you to do so. Never forget - God alone is possessed of all greatness. He is the fountain of every thing that is bright and blessed.

Christian, if you find yourself out in the field "eating grass" like a cow, why don't you do as Nebuchadnezzar did in the Bible and begin to give honor to Whom honor is due -"Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all Whose works are truth, and His ways judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase" (Daniel 4:37) ?

It was when Nebuchadnezzar "lifted up his eyes unto heaven"..."blessed the most High"...and "praised and honored Him that liveth for ever" that his reason returned to him and he was restored to the kingdom. He received a proper perspective of things from the Lord.

Honor and glory belong to the Lord. No matter what good things come our way or how they come to us - He gets all the glory for them!

He and He alone is God!

May God Bless His Word,

Connie

I agree with Connie...Let's keep me out of it and give God the credit for what He has done.
Jesus Bless!

The bottom line is, give God the credit for all things: your talent(s), what you eat, income, for life itself. Ole Neb just couldn't get this through his pompus, egotistical thick head ... and he paid for it. As it has been said, we will, too, if we don't give Him all the credit.
